  • About M.A. Course

1) The Masters programme in History, initiated from 2022-23 academic session onwards, has curated an updated syllabus keeping in mind the orientation of the students towards competitive examinations such as NET, SLET, WBCS, UPSC, etc along with nurturing research potential among them.Some of the courses taught at the Masters level are designed to give specialized knowledge on Epigraphic and Numismatic sources, Print Culture, Regional History of Bengal, among others.

2) Our students get an opportunity to do a mandatory research project in the 3rd semester that enables them to get oriented with primary and secondary sources of a topic of their choice.

3) The innovative course design of the MA programme helps students to develop an in-depth knowledge of the subject and also strives to hone their public speaking and presentation skills through tutorial presentations.

4) The Department encourages museum visits and field trips to archaeological sites or locations of historical importance as part of the academic course work. We are also in the process of constructing an exhibition-cum-display hall of numismatic and archaeological materials in our college.

5) Above all, our students get the opportunity to interact with some of the most reputed academicians in the field throughonline and offline classes, extension lectures, seminars, and workshops.
